Unexpected Outing

13th Jan 2007 (Sat)

For the first time ever, Nooi Hoay and I stayed in Sze Ching’s house in Bukit Indah, Ampang. He lives in a shop lot; 15 minutes away from Ampang Star Lrt station and a very strategic location indeed. His house is on the 1st floor. Hence, go down the stairs and there’ll be many shops around you within walking distance like dobby, food stalls, and cyber café. I regretted not taking any pictures early. I thought I still have time but in turned out that I left his house in a hurry without snapping any picure at the end of the day. Anyway, Sze Ching did a good job serving both of us. He washed our dishes during dinner and made Milo for us during breakfast =) Sze Ching and I slept in his sister’s room (His sister is currently not at home cause she’s studying in UPM) while Nooi Hoay slept in Sze Ching’s room. The reason being his sister’s room is more spacious and it is not a normal practice to put a boy and a gal visitor in the same room. His mum is nice and cooked curry for us while I found his dad pretty knowledgeable. Jing Guo, Wen Jun, and Sze Ching’s dad makes me realize how low my general knowledge is =( Nevertheless, I wanna thank Sze Ching and his parents for their hospitality. It was really very nice of you all.

On that Saturday morning, Sze Ching, Nooi Hoay and I went for IDP briefing in Seri Pasific where we unexpectedly met Sze Huey, Merlin, and Quanyie. Among other AUSMATians who were present were Kelvin Woon, Yi Jia, Wai Hong, Ru Xing, Thuaibah, Syamil, Yusof, Nadrah, Shahir, Sharifudin, and Arif. The briefing was pretty informative especially during Mr. Hira’s talk (Mr. Hira is the manager of MSL Travel) and the sharing experience session with seniors.

After the briefing ended at about 1pm, we had lunch before heading to The Eyes on Malaysia (Faris Wheel) as Quanyie was really really eager to try it. Ehem, Merlin wasn’t equally interested as he is afraid of heights =p (Merlin, don’t belasah me can?) Haha..We went with another group of Sunway people who are also JPA scholars. I’ve never met any of them before except for Darren cause he was being featured once in Yee Hong’s blog.

Clockwise from top left: Nooi Hoay, Yi Jia, Quanyie, Merlin, Sze Huey, Sze Ching, Wai Hong, and myself while queuing up for the Faris Wheel ride.

In the cable car. 8 of us shared one cable car. RM 12 each. Rotating the Faris Wheel six times required more patience instead of bravery as all of us got bored. The first round was the most exciting one as it was our first experience and we enjoyed teasing Merlin =p But after 3 rounds, it felt stuffy and bored inside. Moreover, the wheel was moving really slowly which was the main reason we were bored. Sze Huey suggested that the doors are removed in order to add more excitement to the ride.

We spotted this abnormal sign on the ceiling of the cable car. What does the 'O' stands for? And the West is in the wrong direction.

From the top, we spotted a couple taking their wedding picture. They look super small =p Haha, not a bad location I would say. It was just that they have to be a bit more thick-skinned as the place was kinda crowded and they have to stand the stares of so many pairs of eyes including ours from the top =)

Us after the ride, with Faris Wheel as the background. Thanks to Darren for snapping the picture. I particularly like this one.

At 4.30pm, ANU would be having its own briefing in Equatorial Hotel. Hence, Sze Huey and I plus Yong Jian, Wan Phei, and Jason (from Sunway’s gang) separated from the others to attend it. It was nevertheless very informative and more interesting than IDP’s briefing. And the best part was we get to befriend many future and present ANU students. Farah Izzati, Thuaibah, Nadrah, Zaza, and Sherry was also there. The briefing ended at 9 something as there was dinner included. Moreover, each of us received a Vadaphone number with AUD30 credit in it to be used in Australia. Hm, free number + free dinner + new friends + new information = worth your time! Not a bad briefing at all!!! Hence, to all of you, I strongly advise you all to attend your university briefing. Make some new friends and at least get to know some of your future University-mates =)
Thank you for reading!!!

Lucky gals. Sze Huey got an ANU key chain while Farah received an ANU T-shirt from a lucky draw.

The most happenning/noisy table during the night. (L-R: Yee Chern(senior), Kenny(Senior), Man Yee (Taylors), Wen Harn(Taylors; Sze Huey said he's cute =p), Me, Sze Huey, Farah, Zaza, Hana(Senior))

L-R: Yong Jian(Sunway), Me, Sze Huey, Wan Phei(Sunway), Jason(Uniten)

With two of Khirul's ex-classmates. They are already in ANU for a year. I forgot their names. Khirul, help me out here!!!

The compass is in German. Nördlich südlicher östlicher Westen. Its direction confused you because you were looking from below. I wish I was smart enough to enter INTEC German Engineering. You INTEC scholars are all so happening. Is Kelvin Woon related to Calvin Woon?
