They Came!

Holiday has so far been great not only because of the yellow boxer incident and explosion, but the fact that my college-mates paid Canberra a visit for the first time!

Sze Ching, Stefanie, Weai Jiet, Audrey, Kuan Yuen.
Stefanie's right hand seems to be at a very strategic place.

We went to the Nara Candle Festival, a celebration of Canberra's sister city relationship with Nara

Nice, right

We then ate this bak kut teh which I boiled for 6 long hours but still didn't taste nice..must've been the brand..

Sze Ching doing the dishes with an interesting posture

Oh, Chong Wee and Wen Jun were here as well with a different group of friends

The windy Mount Anslie offered them a nice night view of Canberra

Weai Jiet showcasing his love to Wong

Back in their apartment, I realised how much the three guys love flying paper plane..look at the white zone created by sze ching's plane

Today, Meiji suddenly sms-ed saying that she's in Canberra for a one day trip. So I showed her group around ANU and recommended them a Korean Restaurant for dinner.

In 8 hours time, it's my turn to be a visitor! I'll be flying off to Melbourne to meet my extended family, Ken Jin, Nooi Hoay, Daphne, and many more!

If I could vote for the US Presidential Election (Nov 4th 2008)...
I'll pay more attention to news.

My favorite drink is..
filtered water, Brita brand.

Ideally, my life after graduation..
win a lottery, set up a company selling ikea-like products made of recycled materials and start kicking in some awareness regarding the environment to Malaysians

But realistically..
I'll be busy choosing the right department in Central Bank.

The color of my..
life is rainbow

If I weren't in college..
my parents would've disowned me by now

When men reach their hands down to 'fix the parking'..
hey khi, what does 'fix the parking' means?.

But when women fix their bras..
I'd be wondering why they do it in public.

I go to the gym..
if there's one below where I live.

The most disturbing movie I've seen is..
28 weeks later. Go watch it! It's lovely!

With a dollar..
I'll check if it has a special design at the back

With 10 dollars..
I'll grab the roast chicken from Supabarn.

Girls open their mouths when they apply mascara because..
it isn't what they imagined.

What Luck!

If yesterday's incident was not embarrassing enough, a bottle cap exploded when I tried opening it at noon. I didn't shake it and it shouldn't even be gassy. Up till now, I still have no idea what the cause was.

Thanks to the explosion, my whole kitchen and body smelt of.....

this

I swear I'm not going to buy that ever again.
The smell awful just in case you're wondering.

Embarassing!

I
1. arrived home
2. changed into my yellow spongebob boxer
3. decided to do laundry.
4. realised I forgot my keys and cellphone
5. too late, I've locked myself out
6. called Senior Resident using Will's room phone but no one answered.
7. hesitated to head to the front reception to take the spare key since I looked wonderful wearing a pair of sunglasses on my head, a nice billabong t-shirt with colar, a yellow spongebob boxer, a pair of socks and crocs.
8. But since I was in a hurry, I gathered my guts and ran to the reception.
9. noticed some funny glares along the way. Met Su Yin, Kai Xun, and Veng who had a great laugh.
10. Finally got hold of the spare key and lead my normal life.

Language Ball

Last Thurs, I attended a ball which showcased the most diverse set of performance I've ever seen!

The food wasn't all that great but healthy and mostly home-made which explains the $10 ticket price.

The fun Chilean Dance!

A Japanese gentleman playing different sets of instruments

There's even such thing as Backwards English

This band seriously rocks the house =p

Winnie and Lyon didn't miss the chance to rock the dance floor. So did the veterans whom I thought would never have the vibe to do so! Winnie, Lyon and I agreed that it's rare to witness this atmosphere in Malaysia.

This cute baby gal was engrossed with this band

Australians singing a song in German

This Italian sang his national anthem with amazing spirit...of course he has nice voice as well

Halfway through, Lyon diverted my attention to candle..
"How come candles on other tables remain high while one of ours are already so short?"
I have not much clue about that..must it's sth interesting to be thought about.

Winnie and I didn't miss the opportunity to perform!
Finally get to sing Hao Xin Fen Shou =)

And the amazing thing was Ian Chubb actually remembered our performances despite having watched more than 10 performances that night.

*All smiles*

Yeah!

-Winnie, Lyon, Professor Ian Chubb (Vice Chancellor of ANU)-
This is not the first time I've seen him but I've never had a chance to take a picture with him till a couple of hours ago! Wow!

Cheers!

In Msia, I used to think 'Cheers' is a pretty cool word to end your email with.
Since I started uni here in Australia, I realised more and more people are using it...To my horror, almost every single regardless of their nationalities, sign off with 'Cheers'...
Uh...
It really does sound cool, i have to admit...but having too much of anything makes u appreciate it less.

Bachelors' Night

It's normal for guys to have a Bachelors' Night to celebrate the last night for them being bachelors.

Tonight, while having dim sum for dinner, we actually spotted this groom-to-be dressing up in a pretty interesting way..

He actually allowed me to touch them=p
Look closely at his t-shirt!

Your Turn Now

Since Safuraa has asked, I thought it'd be a good idea to remind ANU readers again about the nice free service provided by ANU. Take some initiative to call and go for the checkup =) It's your health you know..they don't test your colesterole level and other complicated stuffs but at least they'll check some basic stuffs and feel free to ask the doctor any questions regarding your health during the process. I mean..unless you've got a friend who happens to be a doctor, how often you get to see one to ask some health questions w/o being sick, right?

Are you looking after your most important asset? (not boobs!)

Your health

From the 9th September to 2nd December a Registered Nurse will be providing free health checks for all staff and students.

Lucky Prize

We're even throwing in a free massage from ANU Massage Centre valued at $60

Health checks will include:

    1 Height
    2 Weight
    3 BMI
    4 Blood Glucose (Diabetes)
    5 Collecting health information:

        1 Family history
        2 Social history

Our aim is to enhance the health and wellbeing of University staff and students. The nurse also has available a wide range of nutritional and exercise information.

Still 165

Went to ANU Clinic today for a free health check up.

Blood pressure, sugar level, waist, body mass all good.

My height is surprisingly still 165cm...I've been 165cm since INTEC days...I haven't been growing for the past few years..gosh..

"Dr Wendy, guys at my age can still continue growing right?"

"Well, I know guys' brains can continue growing till they reach the end of their twenties"

"Hahahahahaha"

"Generally, guys at your age can still grow but just by a tiny bit"

Well..at least the conclusion was good =)

"You're one of the healthiest students...you seem to be doing the right thing! You don't smoke, you don't drink, you exercise regularly..Keep it that way! Just remember to get a blood test on whether you've had the injection for Hepatitis B&C since you said your dad's a carrier."

The way she checked my sugar level was pretty cool. She has this small gadget to punch a small hole on my middle finger to get one drop of blood which she then used to read my sugar level off a small machine..

"Gosh you've got cold hands..can you shake and move them around a little bit cause there're won't be much blood then your hands are cold."

Before I left, she mentioned a healthy reminder, "For guys at your age, it's advisable to regularly to check your testicles for lumps. It's as important as gals checking their breast for lumps. Early detection is always good."

I Felt It!

This time last year, I became The President, aiming to achieve a sense of satisfaction by contributing to The Malaysian Students' Organisation (MSO).

Now, I felt it! And what better way to exit then to have a good committee taking over and receiving such thoughtful gifts from your committee =)

A dumbell set and a collection of MSO committee pictures with every committees' signatures on it!

Closer look =)

My Committee =)
Jared again fulfilling his destiny =p

A nice dinner in Nandos after AGM

It's up to the newly elected-committee now!

Genius Solution

There's Batman 3 Afterall =)

In an unexpected announcement, actor Michael Caine told an MTV.com reporter that megastar Johnny Depp has been cast as Batman’s nemesis The Riddler.

Caine said he confirmed the casting through Warner Bros.

“I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive,” says Caine, who plays Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth. “I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’”

In a follow-up post on MTV.com’s website, Hoffman denied the report and explained that “no one has talked to me about it ever — never.”

The idea of Hoffman playing the Penguin might seem far fetched to some, even to Hoffman who says, “I don’t know if I’d be a good Penguin to be quite honest.”

But for Depp, playing the role of the Riddler would add to his highly acclaimed list of eccentric characters including Jack Sparrow (from Pirates of the Caribbean film series), Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street).

Mentally Exhausted

Having 3 exams in 2 days is damn tiring....for a last-minute student...
The worst thing is...it's not over! u can't rest cause you still have other commitments..
I need my semester break!

Thank God my exams were alright. At least I didn't step into the exam hall, questioning my ability to pass..like last semester. Great change =)

Thank God my timetable's arranged in such a way that I didn't have to skip lecture despite my exams and I've some free time tomorrow to catch up with assignments.

Fuh...

Black and White Friday

I seriously woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Black
1. Suppose to arrive at Calvary Hospital at 8.30am but woke up at 8.45am.
2. Arrived at 9.05. Feeling guilty for arriving late, I volunteered slightly over my usual leaving time.
3. Missed the bus back to ANU at 10.55am. Since the next bus is about 17 minutes away. I thought jogging back to ANU would be a good idea.
4. Then, I realized my pants was loose - forgot to put on my belt.
5. Suck.
6. I ended up walking 80% and jogging 20% of the time.
7. Took me 40 minutes to reach back home.
8. It was already 11.35am when my tute actually starts at 11am.
9. Along the way, a couple of busses passed but they won't stop even if I flagged cause it was a highway.
10.I would've arrived much much earlier if I had waited for the next bus.
11.'Jog back home'...what was I thinking..
12.I smell...after all the jog.

A dead kangaroo I spotted..

Then things changed for the better...

White
1. Had a really good session with Hudson Recruitment Agent in CPA Building regarding Interview Skills and Resume Tips.
2. Someone (whom I don't know) actually thought I am smart and asked me if I can tutor her.
3. Flattered.
4. Passed EMET with flying colourrs.
5. Yeah!
6. I just showered...so I'm not smelly anymore.

Doggy Quotes

You know there's a couple of times when I read Tim's blog, he mentions about weird quotes he heard on that particular day...

Tim, you can add this in,

"If I'm not studying now, it doesn't mean I'm not going to study later...
It's like a round plate...even if it's round..it doesn't mean it can't balance itself"

Curry!

The next time I cook curry noodles..it's either I wear black..or nothing at all

I'm Yours

As soothing as this song might be, it's actually pretty difficult to belt it out. You've got to exchange between the low and high key pretty quickly besides holding your breath long enough to smoothly handle the lyrics.

"Haha..Jason Mraz gonna have a tough time when he sings it live"

My..how wrong was I...
Beware of the last 4 minutes..it can get pretty annoying...
